Bud Light's Spokesperson Finally Breaks Her Silence Over Divisive Campaign

TikTok celebrity Dylan Mulvaney has come forward to let her viewers know that she is "doing okay." The response comes after a cross-promotional deal with Anheuser Busch (BUD) brand Bud Light made her the target of a right-wing anti-trans campaign.

Since the promotion appeared, social media has been flooded with people shooting at or even bulldozing unopened cans and bottles of Bud Lite beer--but that's nothing compared to the comments sections of Mulvaney's videos. At one point, a bomb threat was sent to a California Budweiser factory.

Now, Mulvaney has returned after a brief hiatus during which she was "sitting with my emotions, not reacting, waiting to respond" she tells her viewers. "And shockingly, I can't recommend it more, therapy is paying off, people!"

The TikTok sensation goes on to describe the conversation surrounding her. "A lot has been said about me," she says, "Some of which is so far from my truth that I was hearing my name and I didn't even know who they were talking about[...] It's a very disassociated feeling."

"What I'm struggling with most is that I grew up in a conservative family[...] and I grew up in the church[...] But I've always tried to love everyone[...] even the people that make it really, really hard," she told her audience of 1.8 million.

"I think it's okay to be frustrated with someone or confused," she says, "but what I'm struggling to understand is the need to dehumanize and to be cruel. I just don't think that's right. You know dehumanization has never fixed anything in history ever."

Part of Mulvaney's appeal to viewers is her chipper attitude and bright outlook as she counts the number of days she's lived her life as a trans woman. The series, which she calls her "Days of Girlhood," even garnered her a visit to the White House in the fall of 2022.

"What I'm interested in is getting back to making people laugh and to never stop learning," Mulvaney says of her future as a content creator. "And going forward, I want to share parts of myself on here that have nothing to do with my [transgender] identity."

Looking on the bright side, Mulvaney adds that "the people pleaser in me has nearly died because there's clearly no way of winning over everyone."

Her response comes a little more than a week after Anheuser-Busch released a lukewarm statement addressing the controversy.
