Bucs waive former Georgia Bulldog

On Tuesday afternoon, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have decided to waive former fourth round NFL draft pick punter Jake Camarda. The former Georgia Bulldog specialist was seemed to be struggling this season so far the Buccaneers.

Head Coach Todd Bowles statement on releasing the punter via social media.

Camarda’s season stats so far were 45.3 yards per punt which ranked him at a disappointing 31st in the league and only five punts that landed inside of the 20 which turned out to be 29th in the NFL. It was decision that neither side wanted to come to, but it seemed that the time was inevitable with the Buccaneers looking to contend within the NFC. Tampa Bay has no room for error moving forward in the season after suffering several devastating injuries on Monday Night Football.

The former highly-touted punter is looking to shake off the bad momentum right now and pivot towards success again. Camarda will be looking for a new NFL home and when he is on top of his game is looked at to be one of the best punters throughout the league.

Camarda’s release seems rash based on the fact that he has a small sample size this season (13 punts) and averaged over 50 yards per punt in 2023.
