Bucs’ assistant GM withdraws from Jaguars’ GM consideration

One of the initial candidates that the Jacksonville Jaguars requested to interview was Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ assistant general manager Mike Greenberg.

However, according to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times, Greenberg has withdrawn his name from consideration.

Stroud would also say this about Greenberg’s decision:

“It had more to with his 15 years with the Bucs and his loyalty to the Glazer family, GM Jason Licht and what they have built here and nothing to do with any negative impressions about Liam Coen or the Jaguars organization. He was honored to be considered.”

As Stroud mentions, Greenberg has been with the Bucs’ organization for the last 15 seasons and has spent the last two as the assistant general manager.

In a recent article by Stroud at the Tampa Bay Times, he notes that Greenberg has become a “creative manager” of the Bucs’ salary cap situation. Stroud goes on to mention the Bucs’ addition of Tom Brady in 2020, along with several other veterans and then the transition cap-wise that the Bucs went under in 2022 when Brady retired as examples of this.

With Greenberg now out of the mix, the there are still six other candidates who the Jacksonville Jaguars’ have requested to interview for this role at this time.
