Bucks to Interview ESPN’s Mark Jackson for Head Coaching Position, per Report

The Bucks are expected to interview Mark Jackson for their vacant head coach position, The Athletic’s Shams Charania reports.

Jackson spent three seasons as head coach of the Warriors from 2011 to ’14, accumulating a 121-109 record and two playoff appearances. Despite winning 98 games over his last two seasons, Golden State fired Jackson and hired Steve Kerr, who would lead the team to a championship the following season.

When he hasn’t coached, Jackson has worked as an NBA analyst for ESPN since he retired in 2004. Jackson has primarily served on the network’s top broadcasting team with Mike Breen and Jeff Van Gundy. He also has interviewed for several head coach openings since 2014, including his becoming a finalist for the Kings job last year.

Milwaukee is looking for a new coach after firing Mike Budenholzer, who coached the team for five years, including a championship season in 2020-21. The Bucks had a 58-24 record this year, which was the best in the league, but they lost in five games to the No. 8-seed Heat in the first round of the playoffs.
