Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo is one of the best basketball players on the planet, but apparently he doesn’t bring his work home with him.
When talking to media members during this past weekend’s All-Star Game festivities in Indianapolis, he admitted he watches very little basketball when surfing the TV.
“I just, in general, do not watch basketball,” Antetokounmpo said. “So, stats, highlights, how people play, I have no idea, and I love it. I love it when I go to the game and have no idea who I’m playing and what they do.”
It’s fair to say that the two-time MVP likely is exaggerating. After all, watching film is a requirement on an NBA team, and it’s hard to believe someone with Antetokounmpo’s list of accolades doesn’t watch a lot of tape.

At just 29 years old, Antetokounmpo is already an NBA champion, an eight-time All Star and a seven-time All-NBA selectee. He’s also been named Defensive Player of the Year once and is a five-time All-Defensive team selectee. And, of course, he was named Finals MVP for his heroics in the 2021 NBA Finals against the Phoenix Suns.
It’s fair to assume that maybe Antetokounmpo was engaging in a bit of hyperbole.
