“This is a place I’ve considered home,” Portis said. “While I was at my game yesterday, I had a home invasion, and they took most of my prized possessions.”

In the surveillance video, a pair of people were seen attempting to gain access to Portis’ property through one of his doors. The burglars did not appear to force entry into his house. However, much is unknown at this time.

“The love you guys give me here isn’t something that I ever felt before in my NBA career, and I’ve been in the league for 10 years,” Portis said in his response video on X.

“… I’ve always felt like I’ve had to give it right back to you guys. I’ve tried to uplift the community and make Milwaukee a better place.”

Portis believes his home was a targeted robbery

According to ESPN’s Jamal Collier, Portis speculates this was a targeted robbery, because it happened right at the start of Saturday’s game. The Arkansas native filed a police report immediately after he found out.

Portis, 27, is playing in his fifth season in Milwaukee. The 6-foot-10 wing signed a four-year, $48.58 million contract with the Bucks in July 2022. He has a $13.4 million player option for the 2025-26 season.

Through six games this season, Portis is averaging 11 points, 7.7 rebounds, 1.0 assist, and 24.2 minutes per contest while shooting 47.6% from the field, 25% from 3-point range, and a flawless 100% at the free throw line.

Portis scored a season-high 16 points in Milwaukee’s 124-109 season-opener victory against the Philadelphia 76ers and in last Sunday’s 115-102 loss to the Brooklyn Nets.

The 10-year veteran also grabbed a season-high 12 rebounds in a loss against the Chicago Bulls.
