The Royal Family is on the hunt for an “ambitious” new chef, according to a Buckingham Palace advertisement.

The role, based at the palace, is described as “hands-on”, with meals provided and the option of live-in accommodation.

“You'll prepare diverse menus for a wide range of events, developing new skills that will help you to take the next step in your career,” the job description states.

Applicants must have “exceptionally high standards” and will need to be “ambitious and qualified, it continues, stressing the most important requirement is “a clear passion for food”.

While the listing does not specify which royal family members the new ‘Demie Chef de Partie’ will serve, it says the role will be based in London but involve “travelling to other Royal residences.”

“In return you can look forward to working in a unique and stimulating work environment,” the vacancy explains, “and be rewarded with a comprehensive benefits package.”

The appointee can expect an annual salary of £22,076, although this will be adjusted if they choose to live on site. They will also receive a 15% employer contribution pension scheme and 33 days’ holiday.

Candidates might like to note the Queen’s reported penchant for chocolate and Prince Charles’s love of curry, while Harry is a big fan of his wife’s banana bread.

The application will close on July 28, just before midnight.
