Fans flocked in their thousands to Manchester's Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night to watch legend Liam Gallagher perform his solo show back on home turf. Pictures show swathes of excited fans entering the stadium for the almost sell-out gig, as many adorned their Gallagher-printed tees, ready for the performance.
It is one of the Oasis-frontman's most eagerly-anticipated gigs of the summer, at City's ground, just as his third solo album, C'Mon You Know, looks set to sail to the top of the charts. The Manc-born musician will perform to 160,000 fans over two huge nights at Knebworth next week.

The Manchester Evening News was scoping out the atmosphere at the football stadium earlier on Wednesday evening, as eager fans spoke of their excitement ahead of the one-off gig. Groups were seen chanting and singing as they stepped off the trams and into the stadium grounds.
Bucket hats appeared to be very much the order of the day as friends clutching drinks and merchandise walked in their thousands into the mammoth stadium. Fans spoke of how they had flown from as far as Mexico for the show, with others making the journey from the less far away... Wrexham.
'Rock n Roll Star' and 'Live Forever' were among favourites ahead of his first gig of the summer this year, as were Oasis classics such as 'Wonderwall'.
Doors opened at 4.30pm, as a DJ set Paul Gallagher welcomed fans at 5pm. This was followed by support performances by post-punk band Goat Girl and indie icons The Charlatans before the main man himself hit the stage at 9pm.
