Baker Mayfield is coming off a bounce-back season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, finding comfort with his new team. One benefit of living in Tampa is being close to the New York Yankees’ spring training facility, and Mayfield took advantage of the location.
On Thursday, Mayfield visited the Yankees before their spring training game in Tampa, and the veteran quarterback took a turn during batting practice before New York’s night game.

When he wasn’t swinging the bat, Mayfield conversed with many members of the Yankees, including manager Aaron Boone and pitcher Gerrit Cole.

This is only the latest installment of the crossover between the Yankees and Buccaneers. New York superstar Aaron Judge and some of his Yankees teammates have attended Buccaneers games in each of the last two seasons, first when Tom Brady was the quarterback and again when Mayfield was leading Tampa Bay.
Both Raymond James Stadium and George M. Steinbrenner Field are located on opposite sides of the same street, so the commute is very easy for members of either team. This gives Mayfield an opportunity to show his athletic abilities in another sport.
Mayfield, meanwhile, is about to enter free agency, so it is not a guarantee that he returns to Tampa Bay next season. However, it seems like both sides want to reunite after what was a successful pairing last year.
