Bubba Watson, a two-time Masters champion, has been confirmed as the latest player to join LIV Golf.
Watson announced the news on social media on Friday evening, with the third LIV Golf event currently underway at Donald Trump's Bedminster Golf Club.
Watson will have to wait a little while longer to get his first taste of LIV Golf action. however, as he is currently sidelined with a knee injury which has seen on the sidelines since May's US PGA Championship. The 43-year-old, who has won the Masters. twice in 2012 and 2014, will attend the next event in Boston as an "off-course captain".
In his announcement on Friday, Watson hailed the new breakaway tour, and can't wait to see how it "evolves". He said: "I'm excited to announce that I have joined LIV Golf.
"Starting at the next event in Boston I'll be a non-playing team captain supporting and rooting on my team until I can get back to competing. My meniscus rehab continues, but I expect to be fully recovered and playing before the 2023 season starts.
"In the meantime, I'm working on plans for my team.... new name, new logo and more to share when we kick things off next season! It's gonna be fun and I'm looking forward to being a part of an exciting new concept in professional golf and seeing how it evolves."
While praising LIV Golf's introduction, he did however acknowledge the role the PGA Tour has played in his career.
He added: "I couldn't make this move without acknowledging that I am forever grateful for the opportunities provided to me through the PGA Tour and for the many friendships made along the way."
Watson has struggled for form of late, having not tasted victory since triumphing three times in 2019 and currently stands at 86th in the standings.
