BTS member Jimin recovering from appendicitis surgery and COVID

Korean-pop star Jimin, a member of the chart-topping music group BTS, is recovering from appendicitis surgery — and COVID-19.

“The surgery was successful and Jimin is currently recuperating after his procedure,” the management group Bit Hit Music said Monday, according to Reuters.

Jimin, 26, was hospitalized Sunday after experiencing abdominal pain, and had the surgery Monday, Reuters reported.

His management team also expressed optimism for a “speedy recovery” from COVID-19 after Jimin tested positive.

The singer, whose full name is Park Ji-min, is one of seven members of the wildly popular BTS, which is known for hits such as “Dynamite” and “Butter.”

The group from Seoul has received a Grammy nomination for best pop duo/group performance in each of the last two years.

Jimin is the fourth member of BTS to test positive for COVID-19 since December, when RM, Suga and Jin each had confirmed cases of the virus.

In addition to the abdominal pain, Jimin reportedly experienced mild throat soreness on Sunday.
