BST Hyde Park festival-goers have been given an update about headlining act Lana Del Rey as rumours circulated that she might have her set cancelled. Over the last few days, many fans have speculated the American songstress won't be taking to the stage at this year's event due to minimal announcements about her support acts.
Several comments on BST Hyde Park's latest Instagram post come from music fans complaining at the lack of updates regarding the acts that are meant to perform this Sunday (July 9). Francesborrie commented: "At this point it’s either cancelled or I’m going to be opening for Lana."
Chlopiecy added: "You guys left me on read! Where is the line-up? The show is in 6 days." Xshaye.s said: "If you cancel Lana's show, I will cancel myself. you will be to blame. kisses." Charlotttereid fumed: "I have not given you 130 great British pounds for you to act like this."
Sigrnm wrote: "Please Lana!! I've payed 600 pounds to fly to London from Norway to see her, been my dream since i was 14 and now in really started to worry that she's cancelled pls give us a peace of mind." Marielouise said: "You could at least just do a story saying that the Lana support acts are announced soon to provide peace of mind."
However, one of our sister publications, MyLondon, has received information about the event fans have been desperately waiting for. After reaching out to BST Hyde Park about the rumours, festival organisers assured the gig is still going ahead and the support acts will be announced this week.
A spokesperson said: "This is going ahead and supports will be announced." Lana Del Rey's manager Ben Mawson also gave reassurance to fans by taking to his Instagram story last night to write: "Excited 4 Sunday @ Hyde Park. Support acts announced soon."
It comes after Lana Del Rey caused quite a stir at Glastonbury Festival last month by arriving on stage late and having her set cut short and her microphone cut off due to running over the allotted time limit.
Thousands turned up to watch her headline the Other Stage on Saturday (June 24), but many were left frustrated as the 38-year-old was 30 minutes late. The Blue Jeans singer was scheduled to perform at 10.30pm, but didn't arrive until 11pm.
She explained to the crowd that her tardiness was due to her hair taking to long to do. Grovelling to festival-goers as she appeared on stage, she said: "I'm so f*****g late that I am about to rush this set today.
