Bryson DeChambeau What’s In The Bag? 2025 Update

Bryson DeChambeau What's In The Bag?

Known for his unorthodox approach to his golf equipment and his constant thirst for improvement, Bryson DeChambeau is one of the most challenging bags to stay updated with!

Fortunately, the 2024 US Open Champions' visibility on social media makes it a little easier to keep on top of, so let's take a look at the tools of his trade...

Driver

When you think of Bryson DeChambeau, you think of driver. That’s his calling card, but because of how hard and fast he swings it, finding the best driver to suit his game has not always been easy. Who could forget his “the driver sucks” remark at the 2022 Open? Certainly not Cobra, that’s for sure. That comment went down like a lead balloon at the Cobra HQ. While he should maybe have chosen his words a little more carefully, when it comes to equipment, Bryson’s requirements are far more complicated than most Tour pros.

To cover these unusual requirements, Bryson uses the Krank Formula Fire LD Driver. Traditionally more seen on the long drive circuit, Krank may not be a brand you are that familiar with, but with how successful Bryson has been with his, maybe you should be.

He plays the 6˚ model lofted down to 5˚ and has it fitted with an LA Golf Bryson Series wood shaft that is predictably extremely stiff.

In recent weeks, he has been spotted testing a new LA Golf prototype driver (a company in which he is a significant investor) so watch this space...

Fairways

Continuing on from his driver, DeChambeau uses Krank Formula Fire 3 and 5 woods. While not usually on the radar in terms of the best fairway woods, it is a typically unorthodox choice but one that is clearly working well! He has said previously that he favours the Krank product due to the increased curvature of the face they possess, which helps with gear effect on his mishits at his high levels of speed.

Once again, he uses the LA Golf Bryson series wood shafts in both fairway woods.

Irons

As with everything else in his bag, the irons Dechambeau plays are anything but standard.

First things first, they are a single length set from his 5-iron (which is his least lofted iron) all the way through to his 60˚ lob wedge. This is a setup designed to promote consistency of address position and also consistency of swing plane.

Secondly, they are the only set of irons we know of that feature a curved face designed to use the advantages of gear effect, which is traditionally only used in hybrids, fairway woods, and drivers. Created by Avoda Golf founder Tom Bailey, these irons are one of two sets in existence.

The next unorthodox feature of these irons is the very non-traditional lofts. For example, the pitching wedge comes in at 40˚where many more conventional sets hover around the 46˚- 47˚mark, and the 5-iron is an astounding 17˚, which is more akin to a regular 2-iron!

These are once again shafted up with LA Golf Bryson Series iron shafts which weigh in at 125 grams.

Wedges

Dechambeau uses three custom-made Ping Glide 4.0 wedges (although we do believe he carries more with him when traveling). His normal setup has 45, 56, and 60 degrees of loft. Again, as with his irons, he opts for LA Golf Bryson Series shafts.

We love the Ping Glide 4.0 wedges and certainly rate them among the best wedges we’ve reviewed in recent years. We found that the turf interaction was exceptional on short shots, making it one of the best wedges for chipping we’ve ever tested.

Putter

Bryson started tinkering with arm lock techniques in 2017 and he has become statistically a very good putter as a result. His putter of choice is the SIK Pro C-Series Armlock with a heavy LA Golf shaft and JumboMax JMX Jumboflat 17 grip.

GolfWRX spoke to SIK Director of Communications Tyler Finley about Bryson and he said; "We went through every conceivable option (even face-on putting) and the arm-lock proved to be the most consistent method we tried. It also is the method that we could best build a system around to quantify distance and face-angle at impact with the ability to max out the range of motion and create a true pendulum-type stroke. There is less breakdown in mechanics with arm-lock as there are fewer moving parts."

Interestingly, the sweet spot of his putter is in the heel due to the weight of the shaft and its location on the putter head. Unorthodox, but that’s Bryson for you.

What Golf Ball Does Bryson DeChambeau Use?

DeChambeau was using the Bridgestone Tour B X ball and he did have a contract with the company but that was mutually ended when he signed for LIV Golf. As such he is now using a Titleist Pro V1x Left Dash golf ball. The Left Dash ball according to Titleist; "is designed for players seeking a high flight similar to Pro V1x with dramatically lower full swing spin and firmer feel."

Titleist make some of the best premium golf balls money can buy and cater for a variety of needs. To find out which ball you should go for, check our our handy guide to the best Titleist golf balls.
