Carolina Panthers rookie quarterback Bryce Young flashed (and splashed) in his very first joint practice.
Following Wednesday’s session with the visiting New York Jets, head coach Frank Reich spoke on the No. 1 overall pick’s No. 1 performance against a (non-Panthers) NFL defense.
“I thought Bryce looked good today,” Reich said. “Listen, the Jets have a really good defense—and that showed today, at times. Their defensive front is top notch. I thought Bryce handled it well. Our offense overall—it was a good day. Jets made their share of plays. Defensively, they had good rush, at times. So we have to get that cleaned up.
“I thought Bryce made good decisions. As a receiving group, I thought our spacing and distribution was good. We’ll check it out on tape, but we’ll clean up the things that we need to. I thought Bryce made good decisions and good accuracy.”
Along with the good decisions and good accuracy, Young also displayed some good touch throughout the morning. He finished having completed 14 of his 22 attempts, including this eye-opener to fellow rookie Jonathan Mingo:

And, as conversations about Young’s point guard-like skills often do, we got another Steph Curry reference.
“We want our quarterbacks to distribute the ball, be playmakers, be the Steph Curry,” Reich added. “Be the Steph Curry. Just get the ball to these guys. Let them make plays for you.”
