Bryce Young’s oversized backpack at Panthers training camp inspired so many back-to-school jokes

After a tough rookie season with the Carolina Panthers, Bryce Young is hoping to rebound and land on his feet in 2024. Instead, his rather unfortunate style choices say he’s picking up right where he left off.

As the Panthers reported to training camp on Tuesday, a video on Twitter showed Young walking into team facilities while wearing a comically large backpack strapped over his shoulders. For likely any other NFL player, the backpack would’ve probably looked fine.

On the 5-foot-10 Young, who looks like he weighs 200 pounds soaking wet, it made him look like a child on their first day back to school.

And let’s be honest, that wide camera angle isn’t a great choice either:

Whoever told Young this backpack looked OK probably hates him. Because it does not do his already diminutive frame many favors. If I didn’t already know who Young was, this clip would’ve made me assume this was a young man late for his multiplication tables test in fourth-period at elementary school. I would’ve also thought he wanted to trade a snack pack for a banana during lunch.

But no, no, he’s really an NFL quarterback. Huh.

NFL fans largely thought the same about Young’s backpack at Panthers camp.
