Bryce Young’s second sport has always been basketball, not baseball—so you almost can’t blame him for his imperfect sliding technique. But he’s working on it.
The Carolina Panthers rookie quarterback has been showing off his scrambling ability in recent weeks. After snatching 40 rushing yards from the New Orleans Saints and Demario Davis’ ankles from Demario Davis last week, Young flashed the wheels on another impressive first-down run on the Atlanta Falcons this past Sunday.
Oh, and he even added a little bit of spice at the end of the slick gain . . .

On Wednesday, Young was asked if we’ll continue to see that personality shine through on the field.
“Hopefully,” he replied with a smile. “Just tryna have fun out there. Sometimes, emotion comes out. Game by game, day by day, we’ll see.”
Well, it was a fun afternoon for Young—who helped push the Panthers to their second win with both his arm and his legs. The 9-7 victory saw him finish with his second-highest passer rating of the campaign (93.6) and was capped off by an impressive 17-play, 90-yard scoring drive.
Young was later asked if he thinks he’s improved his slide as the year has gone on.
“I like to hope so,” he said. “It’s not a whole lot better. I feel like I’ve taken some baby steps. Definitely better than, like, college. But I wouldn’t put myself at like a star student yet. We’re growin’. Work in progress.”
Hey, at least he wouldn’t be the first Panthers quarterback that needed some extra work in that department.
