Bryce Young on his career day: ‘It was all of us’

On Sunday, Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young passed for 300 yards for the first time in his NFL career. Unfortunately, all the numbers from Week 16’s Christmas Eve showdown still added up to a painstaking loss.

Despite being down by as many as 14 points in the fourth quarter, the Panthers came within a second of setting up an improbable game-tying field goal this afternoon. But before Young got down his spike at the Green Bay Packers’ 31-yard line, the game clock hit all zeros.

The rookie finished the tough 33-30 defeat having completed 23 of his 35 throws for 312 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. He was asked about his performance after the game.

“Really, I think it’s as good as we’ve looked as a unit,” Young replied. “Whatever stats or whatever may say, you point at one person and say it’s a good game—it’s all of us. It was a good building block for us as a unit. And that’s all 11—and plus with all the substitutions, of course. We all stepped up.”

The Panthers stepped up for season-highs in points (30), touchdowns (three) and total yards (394). Young also logged bests with an average of 8.9 yards per attempt and a 113.0 passer rating.
