Bryce Young explains why he slammed tablet in Week 17 loss

Cups weren’t the only thing that were tossed at EverBank Stadium on New Year’s Eve.

CBS cameras caught Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young in a rare display of emotion during the first half of yesterday’s loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. The rookie, who’s often cool and collected, was seen throwing his Microsoft Surface tablet into the ground following an unsuccessful drive in the first half.

Young, after the 26-0 defeat, was asked what led him to that moment of frustration.

“Yeah, I was just frustrated at myself,” he replied. “I just missed a throw to [Jonathan] Mingo that you gotta make. Gotta do a better job, obviously, with body language and that. But I was just frustrated with myself. Opportunities like that—you can’t leave stuff on the field like that, just for us as a team. So, I was frustrated about that and watchin’ it back, I was just mad at myself for that.”

Well, he had plenty of reasons to be mad at himself.

The No. 1 overall pick failed to parlay his career outing from Week 16 into Sunday, as he completed 19 of his 32 throws for 112 yards and an interception. As a whole, the Panthers finished with just 124 total yards, seven first downs and zero points for the first time in 21 seasons.
