Bryce Huff has been a force coming off the edge for the Jets and has become a menace for opposing quarterbacks. Huff is currently second on the team with 2.5 sacks — Quinton Jefferson has three. Even in limited time, Huff is proving to be one of the better pass-rushers in the NFL.
Huff is also set to become a free agent after the season. The Jets placed a second-round tender on the then-restricted free agent Huff last offseason. The tender pays him $4.304 million, fully guaranteed.
As of now, there is no progress on a new deal for Huff. There hasn’t even been a beginning, as Huff told reporters Wednesday, saying talks on a new contract have yet to begin.
Huff also said how much it means to him to have the fans embrace him as much as they have and how they are all calling for him to get paid.
Bryce Huff said the #Jets haven’t talked to him about a new contract yet. But Huff did say it means a lot seeing how much fans have embraced him — and seeing them all calling for him to get paid.

Just about anyone you ask will tell you Huff deserves to be paid. The Jets currently have about $7.3 million in salary cap space and just over $30 million in space for 2024.
The Jets do have quite a few free agents for 2024. But you absolutely can make the argument that Huff is their No. 1 free agent on the board. Yes, the Jets invested a first-round pick in Will McDonald, but having a vast amount of pass-rushers, as the Jets do now, is never a bad thing.
Also, it’s pretty much a guarantee they won’t be bringing back Carl Lawson next season, so there’s at least one open space on the depth chart that they absolutely can use Huff to fill, and perhaps give him more work.
The Jets do still have time to work something out with Huff, but the sooner the better.
