Bryce Dallas Howard's bedroom is the most creative, social space in her entire home – she uses 'conversational seating' to create a multifunctional 'salon'

Bryce Dallas Howard.

Post-pandemic, working from home is commonplace, and as such, many of us have configured our homes to suit our professional lives. While home offices are a natural form of designated work spaces, some of us use our bedrooms as multi-purpose areas – Bryce Dallas Howard included.

The actor's New England-inspired, pink bedroom also functions as a 'salon,' with big, comfortable, and conversational seats, which make the space feel as conducive to relaxation as they do to productivity. It's a total reinvention of a home office idea.

'We wanted the space to feel really cozy and feminine, and just a place she could spend her entire day if she wanted to,' designer Claire Thomas states in a clip shared to Instagram.

According to experts, when building a hybrid bedroom/home office or creative work space, procuring some staple accessories or furnishings is essential to establish the multi-functionality of the area.

'Investing in one or two key pieces, like an exceptional desk or a stylish chair, can define the entire look and feel of a room,' says Laura Hammett, founder of the luxury homeware brand Laura Hammett Living.

'Bryce uses this room almost like a salon - a creative space to work and collaborate - so I knew we needed a big cozy chair,' Claire states in the caption of the clip. That would be the Joybird Chair and a Half, which, as its name suggests, is an oversized chair that can easily seat a couple of people.

Additionally, Laura says that lighting is make or break in any space you will be using for work, and this especially stands true in a bedroom.

'Lighting is one of the most important elements of any room, and it’s no different in a home office,' she says. 'Consider using layered lighting - task lights for focus and ambient lights for a calming environment - to create a balanced atmosphere.'

Finally, personalize your space to make it feel yours – with a hybrid bedroom-workspace, you want to feel inspired and at ease, surrounded by beautiful pieces.

'It’s the details that make a space truly luxurious. By selecting beautiful, functional accessories, you’re not just decorating your office - you’re creating an environment that reflects your personality and promotes a sense of calm and organisation,' Laura explains.

With the simple addition of conversational seating, a stylish desk, and some essential supplies, a bedroom can truly feel like a salon or workspace; just make sure you establish some boundaries between your sleep area and these high-productivity spaces.
