The father of one of the four victims fatally stabbed at the University of Idaho in 2022 called suspect Bryan Kohberger's newly released selfie taken the day of the murders "an 'F you' to Idaho."
Court documents released Wednesday included a social media picture of Kohberger, the Washington man accused of murdering the four college students. It was allegedly taken six hours after the killings occurred, NewsNation reported.
Steve Goncalves, whose daughter, Kaylee, was a victim, said the latest release of information "feels good," and surmised why Kohberger took it.
"That's an 'F you' to Idaho," Goncalves told NewsNation. "'I just went into your state. I just killed your kids in their beds, and you're not going to catch me. I'm just going to shower up here, clean off the last bit of the evidence.'"
Prosecutors are hoping to use the photo as evidence that Kohberger had "bushy eyebrows" when the killings occurred, which would match the description of the suspect given by one of the two surviving roommates.
Kohberger's defense, however, is aiming to block the witness' testimony, claiming her story was inconsistent and she may have been fatigued or intoxicated at the time, KHQ reported.
Additionally, the newly released files revealed Kohberger purchased a Ka-Bar knife, sheath and sharpener on Amazon months before the murders. The sheath the same brand as the one that was found next to one of the victims.
