Bryan Gil has bid Sevilla an emotional farewell ahead of his return to Tottenham this summer. Remaining in north London during the first part of the campaign with a move to Valencia not coming to fruition, the Spaniard more often than not cut a frustrated figure on the sidelines with game time extremely hard to come by under Antonio Conte.
Getting his opportunity in the side at the beginning of the year and catching the eye in the process, most notably during the 4-0 triumph away at Crystal Palace, Gil was given the green light to exit at the end of the January transfer window following the addition of Arnaut Danjuma on a loan deal from Villarreal. Returning to former club Sevilla on loan, the Spain international contributed with two goals and three assists in his 24 appearances for the La Liga side.
Gil also played his part in Sevilla adding to their excellent record in the Europa League as they got their hands on the trophy for an incredible seventh time. It is something that he has described as the "greatest thing" football has given him as he said goodbye to the club in an emotional message on his Instagram account.
"Thank you to all the Sevilla family for the love and happiness you have made me feel in this short time. Winning a title with the team that watched you grow up is the greatest thing football gave me," he penned.
"I have been very happy here despite the bad times we have suffered together, but this season has not been able to be more present the "Never Give Up" and the "Caste and Courage" that so much define this club. Wish you all the best for future, will miss you a lot. Long live the @sevillafc."
His message does appear to hint that he will not be returning to the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium for the 2023/24 campaign. Now that his loan spell has come to an end, the winger will enjoy some time off before returning to Hotspur Way for pre-season training under new head coach Ange Postecoglou.

The Australian will take a good look at all the players at his disposal before making a decision on his squad for next term. Playing a very attacking 4-3-3 system, Gil could quite easily force his way into Postecoglou's plans as he does have the necessary qualities to succeed in the Premier League providing of course that he can get to grips with the pace and intensity of the top flight due to his slender frame.
It will certainly not be easy for him with a number of players ahead of him in the pecking order at present, though, but time will tell if he can be a major hit under Postecoglou two years on from his initial move to north London.
