A brute has been jailed for 20 months after a five-year campaign of domestic abuse.
Declan Barrett's terrified victim kept a photographic record of the injuries she suffered at his hands.
Jealous Barrett beat up the woman throughout their relationship and banned her from wearing make-up.
More than 50 graphic images of injuries to her face, chest, arms and legs were shown at Hamilton Sheriff Court.
Barrett, 28, was also given a two-year non-harassment order.
He admitted a catalogue of abuse against his partner at addresses in Larkhall and Strathaven between 2016 and 2021.
Vish Kathuria, prosecuting, said: "The abuse went on throughout their relationship after the first year.
"The accused would choke her, spit in her face, throw her to the ground and kick, punch, headbutt and slap her.
"The woman later told police that she had been trying to get away from him but was too scared."
Barrett, now of Kings Myre, Lanark, texted his victim in February last year, saying: "First time I've been straight and sober in ages.
"Just want you to know I'm never going to hurt you again.
"I'm just paranoid that you are putting on make-up and s**t again and c***s are looking at you.
"I'll tell you this, I'll murder you if you cheat on me."
The court heard the violence culminated in March 2021 when Barrett attacked the woman in her home in front of two "hysterical" children.
Mr Kathuria said: "He punched her to the jaw with such force that she fell, then grabbed her by the hair and struck her head off the wall.
"He then kicked her twice on the ribs, winding her."
The woman fled from the house in her pyjamas and the police were called.
The fiscal added: "Fortunately, her injuries were not significant.
"But she disclosed to the police that Barrett had been controlling her emotionally and she had developed an eating disorder.
"As a consequence, she was speaking to a psychologist."
