Brutal verdict delivered on two Nottingham Forest summer transfers

Broadcaster and Nottingham Forest fan Darren Fletcher has questioned the contributions of two Nottingham Forest players this season.

Speaking on the latest Garibaldi Red podcast, Fletcher said former Watford forward Dennis and Atalanta midfielder Freuler needed to do more to justify their place in the side. You can read part of what Fletcher had to say below or listen to the full episode here..

Fletcher said. "There were two players at the weekend for me. I look at Emmanuel Dennis and I don't get it. I looked at Remo Freuler and I don't get it.

"The conundrum with Dennis - and I feel for Steve Cooper on this - is he'll drift out the game for 10 minutes then he'll get the ball and do something with it. You think he's warming up and will make a goal, so you leave him on for 10 minutes.

"Then he doesn't do anything for that 10 minutes until he pops up again. By the time you take him off, 80 have gone and he's pulled the wool over your eyes. I don't see what he's bringing to the team.

"He seems to be too much of a maverick in a team which can't carry a maverick. Freuler has a lot of promise and had done well for Atalanta. I was on here championing him because I'd seem him play effectively.

"He's got wonderful ability on the ball, but rarely makes anything happen at the back of the Forest midfield. If you are going to be the number six you have to be really good with the ball. You've got to be sharp and see things. They've got to be a complete all-rounder. They have to work out whether Freuler has it in him to do that job, or can Orel Mangala do it?

"Cheikou Kouyate is much more influential than I thought he'd be. Serge Aurier being a natural right-back or left-back is huge. He's playing the postiition safely, which he didn't always do at Tottenham.

"Neco Williams has to defend better so there are positives and negatives. The biggest positive was Morgan Gibbs-White (against Brentford)."
