A shocking undercover video appears to lift the lid on the abuse of cows at a Coca Cola Company partnered farm.
The brutal video came to light after campaign group Animal Recovery Mission sent an employee undercover at northwest Indiana's Fair Oaks Farm for several months in 2018.
Over the course of an hour and a half the reality of how unforgiving large scale factory farming can be is laid bare.
The disturbing videos shows cows being mistreated in a number of different ways.
Moments after giving birth and with their afterbirths still visible, mothers are forced onto the milking line, the video's narrator claims.
Workers can be seen punching unruly cows and snapping their tales in half.
The mammals are placed on a revolving carousel with feed piled high in the middle.
In the video one can be seen collapsed on the floor, either out of exhaustion, illness or in protest.
As the machine turns its leg gets stuck in the mechanism.
All the while the new mothers seem to be calling out in distress.
One cow is seen lying on its side, apparently having been left to die.
Another strains its head through a gap in wall trying to reach a dead foetus that is just out of reach.
Deceased cows are left sprawled in muddy puddles outside.
The farm provides milk for ultrafiltered brand fairlife, which is a partner of the Coca-Cola Company.
Mike McCloskey, the farm's co-founder, said the company took full responsibility for the abuse shown and said all associated employees had been fired.
He outlined plans to install cameras in the farm through which members of the public can watch live streams to ensure no further abuse takes place.
A full-time animal welfare specialist will also be hired, Dr McCloskey said.
“I am disgusted by and take full responsibility for the actions seen in the footage, as it goes against everything that we stand for in regards to responsible cow care and comfort," he added.
"The employees featured in the video exercised a complete and total disregard for the documented training that all employees go through to ensure the comfort, safety and well-being of our animals.
"It is a shock and an eye-opener for us to discover that under our watch, we had employees who showed disregard for our animals, our processes and for the rule of law."
India police are currently investigating potential animal abuse.
The Coca-Cola company said it would launch its own independent investigation.
Their actions have not convinced many of the 25,000 people who have signed a petition calling for a boycott of fairlife products.
One supporter wrote: "This company needs to be put out of business. I will ask my supermarket to stop carrying this brand and unless Coca Cola steps up and does something I will boycott them as well."
Another added: "There is no reason for the violence seen against these innocent beings. I will not buy or consume any dairy products and I will not buy any Coca Cola products."
