Police have charged a woman with the murders of two men in Melbourne's inner north on Thursday.

Emergency services were called to Hope Street in Brunswick early on Thursday morning after reports of a stabbing.

A 61-year-old Coburg man died on the way to hospital and a 59-year-old Brunswick man was found dead at the property.

Police later arrested a 44-year-old Brunswick woman, who has been charged with two counts of murder and remanded to appear in the Melbourne Magistrates' Court on August 29.

Detectives are still trying to find a driver who is believed to have given the woman a lift from the Brunswick area to Carlton North.

Police said the driver was in a dark-coloured ute with tool boxes on the back and a snorkel attached to the driver's side.

Detectives said there was nothing to indicate the driver was involved in the alleged murders and they were being treated as a witness only.
