Bruno Lage was left ruing missed opportunities as Liverpool came from behind to beat his Wolves side on the final day of the Premier League season.
Pedro Neto fired the West Midlands outfit into a third-minute lead at Anfield, only for Sadio Mane to equalise midway through the first half. With Manchester City finding themselves 2-0 down to Aston Villa at the Etihad, at that point the Reds only needed a goal to win the league, but by the time they scored twice in the final 10 minutes to seal a 3-1 victory, Pep Guardiola’s men had turned their own game around to lead 3-2 and clinch the title.
Speaking after the final whistle, Lage was proud of Wolves' efforts against this season’s runners-up. However, bemused by their inconsistency, he admitted they will need to strengthen in the summer while envying the options Jurgen Klopp has at his disposal at Liverpool.

“I am proud of what they did,” the Wolves boss told reporters. “It was a big opponent to have a good moment.
“We don’t have a target. We come with that idea, one more test against this kind of team, to play in our way, show personality, have the ball, have chances and score goals.
“After, when you look back, the little things that happen all the season happen today. Players ask to come out, we start winning the game, we have chances to score more goals and kill the game.
“I'm proud of what we did today. We give the image we need to be more consistent. How we can play this way against Liverpool and Chelsea and some of the games we didn’t perform? But this is what is 10 per cent of what I have in mind when I look at the last six games.
“We need to prepare very well and we need the squad that when these kind of problems happen, we have good solutions to solve. We cannot have a team like Liverpool, you replace (Diogo) Jota for (Mohamed) Salah, we don’t have that, but I think we can create in the market, find a good striker to bring on the pitch and increase our mentality and, when something happens, have quality.
“When you see the chance we create and the one Mane scored, it is similar. The only thing we can do is continue to give a lot of confidence to the players and continue to work. Today was a good example, we create good chances and didn’t score.”
