Bruno Guimaraes has spoken of his delight after receiving a text message from Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer just hours after signing for the club.
The club's all-time top scorer and England legend contacted Bruno to offer him a warm welcome back in January following his £33.5million move from Lyon. The midfielder has since wooed supporters with four goals in his first few starts for the club, including an audacious back-heeled volley on his full debut at Southampton.
Bruno said: "When I signed with Newcastle, on the first day he already followed me on Twitter and texted me good luck. He's a legend, Newcastle's top scorer, without a doubt the greatest player, so for me it's gratifying.
"He followed me on Twitter, I followed him back, sometimes we exchanged messages. Having the support of the main name of the club gives you more confidence, for sure."
Bruno has a goal every other game average in his first eight starts for the Magpies plus one assist.
