Bruno Guimaraes pokes fun at Sunderland while playing as Newcastle United in FIFA 23

Bruno Guimaraes has mocked Sunderland while using Newcastle United in FIFA 23. EA Sports officially release their latest edition of the popular football simulation on Friday but hardcore players can pay extra to get their hands on the game early.

FIFA 23 is the 30th and final instalment of the franchise, with a name change set to take place next year due to licensing issues. Newcastle - and almost every other club in world football - are playable, and Guimaraes has seized the opportunity to poke fun at the club’s bitter rivals.

Playing as the Magpies, the 25-year-old videoed himself brushing Sunderland aside at St James’ Park. The scoreline showed Newcastle taking the Black Cats apart 3-0 as Guimaraes’ own in-game character smashed in a third.

Despite there being no Tyne-Wear derby for six-and-a-half years, the 25-year-old clearly knows who his new supporters banter more than any other. To add further humour to his Instagram story, Guimaraes also chanted “BRUNO” - replicating thousands of match-going supporters each week.

In reality, the midfielder is sweating over his fitness for this weekend’s clash against Fulham. Newcastle requested an early recall from international duty after he picked up a thigh injury while training with Brazil.
