Bruno Guimaraes’ partner reveals what Newcastle United star is really like

Bruno Guimaraes' partner Ana Lidia Martins says the Newcastle United midfielder is the same happy guy at home that he is on the football pitch. The Brazilian is already a huge fan favourite for his displays on the pitch, but his personality away from the field has only heightened that admiration.

The former Lyon midfielder welcomed his son into the world after making the move to Tyneside with fans calling him an adopted Geordie. The Toon faithful have also enjoyed seeing updates from Bruno's family life, including posts on social media of his two dogs.

However, his wife has joked that there are only two occasions when Guimaraes isn't the happy guy supporters have become accustomed to seeing.

She told Football Daily: "He is that guy, he's very happy all the time, it's annoying. There's two times he's not happy - when he wakes up early and when he's hungry.

"When he's hungry he's another guy, but in the rest of the day, he's this guy all the time."

The pair welcomed their first son, Matteo into the world earlier this season. Guimaraes' popularity at the club shone through when team-mate Nick Pope bought him a gift for his first-born, with the pair forming a heart-warming bromance after the latter's arrival on Tyneside.

The Magpies have been given a recent boost in terms of Guimaraes' injury he sustained against Fulham. The Brazil midfielder is expected to be back in contention to face Southampton in the Carabao Cup semi-final.
