Bruno Guimaraes on weight loss, working with personal nutritionist and meticulous Eddie Howe

Bruno Guimaraes has revealed he is working with a nutritionist in order to get the best out of himself for Newcastle United.

Toon boss Eddie Howe is currently advertising for a professional to help boost his backroom team in this area, but the Brazil international is already a few steps ahead of the average Premier League player. And he has revealed he has lost weight in order to play at his best in the top-flight.

Speaking to Globo in Brazil, Bruno said: "I'm literally thinner. "When we won the Olympics (Tokyo 2020 in the middle of 2021) I was playing with a fat percentage of 13%, 13.2%. "Today I have 11.7%.

"I've been working with a nutritionist, with personal, with my physical therapist, I'm very careful with food. Even because playing in the Premier League is different.

"The guys are strong and fast, it's no use just being smart, if you're not strong and fast, you can't play either."

Bruno spoke of Howe's evolution at Newcastle and how much he is enjoying his work with the meticulous former AFC Bournemouth boss. The former Lyon star said: I'm enjoying the evolution I'm having with Eddie, and also the studying of opponents.

"It's knowing where I can have opportunities."

That was certainly the case when Bruno timed his run perfectly in stoppage time to connect with a bullet header into the top corner of the Gallowgate End net on Sunday against Leicester. Bruno said: "It's very interesting, what the coach in general does for the team.

"What the team can have an advantage, in terms of the aerial ball, of having rehearsed play, of making triangulation.

"Individual work is me against my opponent. The space that they usually leave to take advantage of, for passing and shooting opportunities.

"They are two jobs that you can combine well, they are not the same thing. "I'm enjoying doing and I also analyse what I did right and wrong in games."
