Bruno Guimaraes' message to Newcastle United fans after finally meeting his new team-mates

Bruno Guimaraes finally got the chance to meet his Newcastle teammates following his January switch from Lyon.

The Brazilian had been on international duty and only arrived in the city on Friday morning.

A Magpies contingent fronted by head of recruitment Steve Nickson jetted out to South America to meet Guimaraes and complete formalities on the multi-million-pound deal.

The midfielder landed at Newcastle Airport and immediately headed to the club’s Benton training ground to meet the rest of the squad.

Footage released by the club shows the 24-year-old embracing the likes of Allan Saint-Maximin, Jonjo Shelvey and compatriot Joelinton as he walks through the door for the first time.

Earlier in the day, Guimaraes greeted Magpies fans on social media by declaring he is ‘looking forward’ to playing in front of a full house at St James’ Park.

He posted on social media: "I’m very happy to be here, I hope to meet your expectations. I’m looking forward to playing and meeting the fans. Thank you for your support."

He could make his Newcastle debut in Tuesday’s crucial home clash against Everton, a game billed as a ‘six-pointer’ due to its importance for both sides.

Eddie Howe’s side are looking to build on their much-needed victory against Leeds at Elland Road last time out, while Everton - who have recently appointed Frank Lampard - aim to avoid being sucked into the relegation battle.
