Bruno Guimaraes 'frustrated' after Newcastle draw as he pays tribute to Magpies staff

Bruno Guimaraes admits he has been left a 'litte frustrated' after Newcastle United were held to a goalless draw at Crystal Palace. However, the Magpies talisman has thanked the club's medical staff after he shrugged off an ankle injury to keep his starting spot.

Guimaraes was expected to miss out on the televised contest at Selhurst Park on Saturday night, having been withdrawn at half-time of the home victory over Fulham the previous weekend. However, Eddie Howe was able to name an unchanged starting eleven and the visitors extended their top-flight unbeaten run to 15 matches.

Newcastle dominated the opening half, but proved unable for the third time this season to find a way through Palace's defence. Nick Pope was also required to pull off a stunning late stop to deny a fine strike from Jean-Phillipe Mateta.

Newcastle moved back into third spot as a result of the point, with Manchester United due to face league leaders Arsenal on Sunday afternoon. However, it was clearly a case of two points dropped for Guimaraes judging by his post-match social media post.

He wrote: "A little frustrated with today's result, but I would like to thank all the medical staff for making me available for the game in record time. Without you it would not be possible. We return with full focus for our semi final on Tuesday."
