Newcastle's new recruit Bruno Guimaraes has mocked Arsenal and their fans with his latest Twitter activity that has dominated the social media agenda on Sunday.
Guimaraes, 24, completed his move to England and despite constant Arsenal and Chelsea rumours in this transfer window and previous ones, the Toon were the one club to be the most aggressive in their approach..
Edu and co had been looking to sign a new midfielder on loan instead of splurging money on a big signing mid-season with Arthur Melo the preferred option but Juventus' inability to sign a replacement has so far blocked the deal.
Although, Denis Zakaria is set to sign for the Old Lady in the next 24 hours meaning a potential Arthur deal could be unlocked on Monday but with Rodrigo Bentancur departing Turin, it is unknown yet if Max Allegri would allow two players in the same position to leave.
A club statement read: "Newcastle United are delighted to confirm the signing of Brazil international Bruno Guimarães on a four-and-a-half-year deal.
"The 24-year-old midfielder joins the Magpies for an undisclosed fee from Lyon, where he has been one of the outstanding performers in Ligue 1 over the past two seasons, and will wear shirt number 39 - the number of the taxi once driven by his father.
"Born in Rio de Janeiro, Guimarães started out with Audax, where he made his debut as a 17-year-old, before moving on to Brazilian top-flight side Athletico Paranaense, where he won the Copa do Brasil and the Copa Sudamericana as well as being named in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A team of the year in 2019.
"He then signed for Lyon and, having won an Olympic gold medal with his country at the 2020 summer games, has earned three full caps for the Seleção. He is currently on international duty with Tite’s side and completed his medical in his homeland ahead of travelling to Newcastle next week."
With the news breaking earlier on the Sunday, Guimaraes himself has now had time to take to his own social media and deliver his reaction to his new future.
On his Twitter @brunoog97, the 24-year-old's team posted a video compilation with the caption: "A beautiful chapter is coming."
In the video itself which had a duration of one minute, Lyon's now former number 39 has clipped up some of the best stories in the media during these last few months, with many referencing 'Arsenal' and 'Edu'.
The 'chapter' caption alludes to the fact that the midfielder is happy to see all of this speculation now over as he looks to move on by making an impact at St James' Park.
Guimaraes could make his debut for Eddie Howe's side on February 8 with an appearance in the Premier League against Everton - a game which could prove pivotal in the relegation picture come the end of the 2021/22 campaign.
