Bruno Fernandes has already given his backing to moves for Harry Kane and Mason Mount, with both on Manchester United's summer transfer shortlist.
Despite a positive first campaign in charge, Erik ten Hag remains keen to improve the quality of his squad. That is set to start with the targeting of Kane, who is set for another trophyless season with Tottenham.
United have been long-term admirers of the England captain and are expected to renew their interest in him. Mount is also emerging as a potential target, with his contract at Chelsea entering its final year at the end of the season.
According to The Guardian, the Red Devils have added Mount to their list of targets for attacking midfield. A move for Kane would price them out of the race for Jude Bellingham, making alternative targets necessary.
One of those is Mount, with his talks over a new deal at the Blues having ground to a standstill. Chelsea are set to welcome offers for Mount in the summer if he has not signed a new contract by that point.
As well as an attacking midfielder, Ten Hag is said to want to sign an elite striker, with Kane their top target. The 29-year-old would likely command a huge fee, but that is something United are well aware of.

If United do move for both Mount and Kane as expected, it would be a strategy that would receive the full backing of stand-in skipper Fernandes. Back in the summer of 2021, the Portugal international named the duo among the players he ranked as the Premier League's best.
“I think it’s difficult to choose one. For me, being the best player in the Premier League, you have to be the best from since we started to the end, and not coming and start playing in December or January and start doing well in that moment," he told United's club website.
“The ones who were doing well before everyone forgets because those are doing better at this moment. I think to be the best player, you have to be consistent, try to be the best that you can for the longest time you can.
"Honestly, it’s difficult to choose one player to be the best. Of course, we all know the qualities that our rivals have. Harry Kane is still doing really well in the Tottenham team, for example.
"I really like Mason Mount – he’s been consistent from the beginning of the season but, if people will watch numbers he’s not had so many goals as other players or assists as other players but, for me, as a performance he’s been really, really top.
“I think it’s difficult to choose one. I will be here for a lot of time doing names, names, names. It’s better I stop or I will forget players and I don’t want to do that.”
Having the backing of Fernandes could be key, with the midfielder likely to form partnerships with both Kane and Mount if they do indeed move to Old Trafford.
