Bruno Fernandes speaks on Manchester United future amid links with move to Saudi Arabia

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has shrugged off links with a money spinning move to Saudi Arabia.

Clubs in the Saudi Pro League embarked on an aggressive recruitment drive during the summer transfer window, attracting big name players and managers.

Such is their desire to improve the standing of the league, reports continue to link some of the biggest stars in world football to the Gulf State.

Fernandes is one of those and would represent a statement signing, although the Portugal international insists he is happy at Old Trafford.

The 29-year-old joined United in January 2020 and has since established himself as one of the Premier League’s leading players.

Despite question marks over his suitability for the role, Fernandes was handed the captaincy at the club earlier this summer after manager Erik ten Hag stripped Harry Maguire.

Though it has been a difficult start to his first season with the armband for United, the midfielder has ruled out the possibility of a mid-season move to the Middle East.

"I'm focusing on the national team and United. I'm happy where I am,” he told Sport TV in Portugal.

"In the national team, we had some very good times, at Manchester United we didn't start the way we wanted.

"I don't look at rumours. I don't pay attention to them. Today, it's very easy to spread rumours in the press. I prefer to concentrate on my goals."
