Bruno Fernandes sets sights on Europa League final after late winner vs Rangers

Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes wants to reach the Europa League final after netting a last-gasp winner in his side's 2-1 win over Rangers this evening.

Jack Butland's own goal opened the scoring in the second half. Cyriel Dessers thought he rescued a point for the Ibrox club late on, although the Portuguese midfielder stepped up to net a stoppage-time winner.

Lisandro Martinez floated a lovely cross into the back post, which Fernandes duly fired home through the legs of Butland.

After helping his team win on Thursday evening, the 30-year-old has his sights set on May's final: "We want to get through the Europa League and get to the final in Bilbao," he said live on TNT Sports.

"It's not about the character. We have to prove that in the 90 minutes, we can't bring that out when we concede a goal. We concede a late goal and we have to score a late goal.

"At this club, you need to win every game. You know that if you don't win games here, it will be difficult. I hope our fans never get used to losing games. I hope they believe in this team to win games."

It was perhaps the most brutal way to lose a game of football for Rangers, who sit 13th in the Europa League table going into next Thursday's clash with Union St. Gilloise at Ibrox.

First up, though, a trip to face Dundee United at Tannadice awaits Philippe Clement's men this weekend as they look to bounce back from the bitter loss at Old Trafford.
