Bruno Fernandes reveals the Elland Road warning he has been issued ahead of Leeds United trip

Bruno Fernandes has revealed he is already aware of the reception Manchester United will receive at Elland Road on Sunday.

Leeds United are set to host the Red Devils in front of a full capacity crowd in the Premier League for the first time since 2003 with a hostile atmosphere expected.

The Whites will be looking to exact revenge on Man United for their humiliating 5-1 defeat at Old Trafford on the opening day of the season.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side managed to hold their rivals from across the Pennines to a dour 0-0 draw in the meeting at Elland Road last season, however with over 36,000 supporters in attendance, it is likely to be a much different game this time around.

Speaking to manutd.com, Fernandes claimed that even though last season’s game was behind closed doors, his teammates told him exactly what this fixture means to both sets of supporters, which he says will give him extra motivation.

He said: “Yeah, already last season, without fans, people were telling me about that. My team-mates were saying that this is a tough place to be as a Manchester United player but I like that kind of atmosphere.

“I like when everything is against you because it makes you give a little bit more and be a little bit better. You also know the fans will be there for you, to make them be proud of you and give something back to them because they will go there to support us, for sure.”

“Of course, when you come to the club, you know there’s a lot of big games in England, big teams and a lot of strong teams. Even people who don’t consider them to be big teams are always tough to play against.

“Obviously, we know the games the fans feel more – the Leeds, Liverpool and Manchester City ones. They want for us to win more than anyone else but I think the fans love to see us win and that’s most important. And the most important for us is to make as many wins as possible, as we can.”
