Bruno Fernandes reveals his Manchester United ambitions as he makes Champions League admission

Bruno Fernandes has set his sights on winning silverware at Manchester United, insisting he hopes to help the club win some before the end of this season.

The attacking-midfielder, who has scored seven Premier League goals this season, joined the club on a five-and-a-half year contract from Sporting Lisbon two years ago, signing in a deal worth £67.7million.

The Portugal international, of course, has since become a roaring success at Old Trafford, scoring 47 goals and claiming 36 assists in just 108 appearances, including a very impressive 28 goals in all competitions last season.

However, despite his success in the final third, it has not been enough to lead United to a major honour since his arrival at the club, despite reaching the final of the Europa League last term.

Still determined to win silverware at United, Fernandes has outlined his dream of winning trophies at Old Trafford, insisting everyone associated with the club, including the players and fans, "deserve to win a trophy."

Fernandes told United's club website : "My ambition is still the same. I want to win trophies with the club. That will always be in my mind until the last day I am at the club.

"I don’t know when that will be but, until then, I will believe that I can win trophies with this club because I think we can and I think the club deserves it, the fans deserve it and also the players, we deserve to win a trophy.

"Whenever that is, we have to do it step by step and understand we have those qualities but we have to understand how to do it, how to put everything together – the qualities and the intensity and everything."

Still alive and kicking in both the Champions League and the FA Cup this season, Fernandes believes United have a chance of winning both trophies, regardless of what their critics might suggest.

"Of course, in the league it is too far now," Fernandes added. "We have to be realistic and we have to fight for the top-four and being in the Champions League next season.

"At the same time, fight for the Champions League and the FA Cup. I don't care what people think or can say about us winning the Champions League or the FA Cup.

"I think we have the chance to win it, the qualities to win it and, most of all, we are in those competitions. Until we are out, we have to believe we can win those competitions."
