Bruno Fernandes pictured with agent amid ongoing Man Utd contract dispute

Bruno Fernandes posed for pictures with his agent Miguel Pinho as speculation continues over the midfielder's contract situation at Manchester United.

The 27-year-old was United's main man last term after bagging 18 Premier League goals, but has struggled to replicate that form in a campaign where his thunder has undoubtedly been stolen somewhat by Cristiano Ronaldo.

Fernandes has netted just seven league goals in 21 outings this term while the Portuguese has also had to contend with a tactical shift after Ralf Rangnick replaced Ole Gunnar Solskjaer just before Christmas.

There were signs of Fernandes being back to something like his best in the recent 2-2 draw away at Aston Villa, as he scored twice for the Red Devils in Ronaldo's absence.

And the ex-Sporting star unquestionably remains a key man at Old Trafford.

But there are questions over his long-term future with speculation over his contract situation.

While Fernandes has not implied anything as drastic as an imminent departure, his contract negotiations with the club have not seemingly been going so smoothly.

Fernandes has already rejected one extension offer amid reports from The Athletic that claimed the midfielder thought his performances last season warranted an increase in wages.

After the offer was rejected from Fernandes in October, United paused discussions with the player but a recent picture appears to suggest negotiations have resumed.

Fernandes has spent time with his agent as the January transfer window draws to a close, potentially to discuss his future at Old Trafford with those at the top of the club.

The midfielder is currently contracted to the club until 2026, ensuring United have multiple windows left before they are cornered into a position where they could be forced to sell Fernandes for a cut-price fee.
