Bruno Fernandes offers more backing to Man United boss Ralf Rangnick ahead of Champions League meeting

Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes has moved to quell any suggestion about dressing room unrest at the club.

While Ralf Rangnick’s appointment as an interim manager late last year was heralded as a positive shift in direction for United, few would doubt the German has struggled to wholly convince.

Whether or not that is a fair reflection on his ability or not is up for debate given the sheer number of media reports suggesting figures behind the scenes are unhappy under his watch but Fernandes has followed teammates such as Cristiano Ronaldo and Marcus Rashford in downplaying such speculation.

United are currently enjoying a promising run of form having won their last two Premier League games on the bounce, fighting their way back in the top four and offering hope of salvaging at least something from this season.

Although Rangnick is only under contract as manager until the end of the campaign, he is believed to have a consultancy role lined up at Old Trafford as the club attempt to catch Manchester City and Liverpool at the top of English football.

Speaking ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League meeting with Atletico Madrid, Fernandes backed Rangnick.

“Here at this club, I’ve never heard someone complain about the tactics, and I hope no one does that because it’s disrespectful on the coach,” he said.
