Bruno Fernandes makes Lisandro Martinez prediction following Manchester United debut

Bruno Fernandes has made a prediction about Lisandro Martinez following an impressive home debut for Manchester United.

As part of the ongoing rebuild, Martinez was signed from Ajax for an initial £46.8million which could eventually rise to £55.3million with add-ons. After meeting his teammates for the first time at Carrington seven days ago, Martinez was handed his first 'proper' start against Rayo Vallecano on Sunday afternoon.

In their attempt to fast-track the Argentina international to match sharpness, he featured in a behind-closed-doors meeting with National League team Wrexham and headed to Oslo with the squad on Saturday afternoon. However, the draw against Rayo Vallecano was the first time that Martinez had been really been utilised.

Martinez, 24, underlined what he will bring to United going forward in a 60-minute appearance alongside Raphael Varane. Fellow signing Christian Eriksen also started the game and he also lasted an hour.

Addressing his 881,000 followers on Instagram, the summer signing uploaded images from his home debut. A short caption, featuring starry-eyed and high-five emojis, read: "First time in the amazing Theatre of Dreams. Working hard to be ready. Thank you for the warm welcome!"

Martinez's post has already drawn in thousands of likes and comments. Several teammates - including fellow recruit Tyrell Malacia and Diogo Dalot - were among them, while Fernandes outlined a prediction for the Argentine following that introduction.

Responding to the versatile defender in Spanish, he said: "Many more to come Licha."

United finished their pre-season schedule against Rayo Vallecano with Malacia, Eriksen and Martinez introduced to home supporters for the first time. Erik ten Hag and his squad welcome Brighton to the same venue this Sunday for their Premier League curtain raiser.
