Bruno Fernandes gives exciting Manchester United update with Sporting Lisbon comparison

Bruno Fernandes has spoken about the conversations he had with Erik ten Hag about his role for Manchester United this season.

The Portuguese superstar is coming off the back of his least productive season last year, and will hope to return to the heights he scaled during his first 18 months at the club. Fernandes joined United in 2020 and instantly became the club's most productive player - scoring 26 Premier League goals in his first season and a half.

But under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick last season, he struggled. This campaign he'll be looking to get back to his best after learning what new manager Ten Hag is asking of him, and he hopes the Dutchman's arrival will be good for him after making his major breakthrough in Europe while playing under another former Ajax boss in Marcel Keizer.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Fernandes said: "I talked with the manager and he asked me how I feel about the game plan. I said to him that I had a coach at Sporting from Ajax (Marcel Keizer) and they think quite similar - I had my best season with him.

"For me it's about following his rules, doing what he demands and my game will come naturally. The main thing is the team being successful. He has a straight line of how he wants us to be and I want to be in that line because I think it can make us successful."
