Bruno Fernandes claims Erik ten Hag is copying Jurgen Klopp trait he's done 'for years' at Liverpool

Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes has compared new manager Erik ten Hag to Liverpool and Manchester City bosses Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola.

Ten Hag took over at Old Trafford this summer and has so far guided them to fifth in the table with 12 points out of a possible 18. They've so far picked up wins against Liverpool, Southampton, Leicester and Arsenal - the victory against Klopp's side became their first league win under the new manager.

Fernandes has been speaking about the impact the former Ajax boss has had on the squad since his arrival and says he is already doing what Klopp and Guardiola have been doing 'for years'.

"First of all, he has an idea. He has a style. You have to follow his rules. He is strict on that. And I like that," he told The Athletic. "He has brought discipline, which is something I think we missed in the past. Everyone must be on the same page.

"That is what Pep (Guardiola) and (Jurgen) Klopp have been doing for years, because they have stability in the club and in the way they choose the transfer market and build the team, which is really important for them to get the rewards. I saw the manager say in a press conference that we do not want to bring players just for the sake of bringing them; we want to bring the right players for what we want to do. It is something the club needs.

"We still have a margin to improve and he needs time to get the most out of us with his idea of playing. I believe we will get to the point with him where we are established as a team and everyone is on the same page."

Like Liverpool, United have had their last two league games postponed and return to action after they international break. They'll face rivals City in the Manchester derby on October 2, while the Reds will host Brighton at Anfield on October 1.
