Bruce Willis seen for the first time after his dementia diagnosis on his birthday

Bruce Willis has broken his silence a month after it was announced he was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia diagnosis.

The 68-year-old, who has been on a break from acting since March 2022, spoke out while celebrating his birthday with his family.

His ex-wife Demi Moore, 60, took to social media to share a clip from the celebration with his family - including current wife Emma Heming, and daughters Rumer, Scout and Tallulah.

In the video, Bruce, his family and his friends were all smiles as they sang Happy Birthday around the kitchen island.

He sang along to a few of the words and talked to the other guests as he blew out the candles on his birthday pie.

"Happy birthday, BW! So glad we could celebrate you today. Love you and love our family. Thank you to everyone for the love and warm wishes — we all feel them," she captioned the post.

At one point during the clip, Bruce seemed in good spirits but lost his footing as he slightly stumbled.

He made gestures with his hands and beamed with joy while people sang for him. He even said "hooray" at one point.

His wife Emma recently shared a poignant video to celebrate his birthday.

Fighting to hold back tears, the 44-year-old admitted to her 680,000 Instagram followers that she felt it was important for people to see all sides of living with the condition.

To mark The Sixth Sense star’s special day, Emma posted an emotional message describing how she felt to watch old videos of her partner, calling it 'a knife in my heart.'

Fighting back tears she spoke to the camera: “So today is my husband's birthday. I have started the morning by crying. As you can see by my swollen eyes and snotty nose, I just think it's important you see all sides of this.

“I always get this message or people always tell me like, ‘Oh you're so strong, I don't know how you do it.’ I'm not given a choice. I wish I was. But I'm also raising two kids in this.

“So sometimes in our lives we have to put our big girl panties on and get to it. And that's what I'm doing.

“But I do have times of sadness every day. Grief everyday. And I'm really feeling it today on his birthday.”
