Bruce Springsteen Surprises New Jersey Concertgoers With Special Duet

Mariah Carey performs during a concert in Times Square on New Year's Eve in New York

New Jersey concertgoers were treated to a special surprise over the weekend as Bruce Springsteen made a guest appearance during John Mellencamp's concert at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark on Sunday night. The iconic musicians delighted the crowd with a duet of 'Pink Houses,' with Springsteen joining Mellencamp on stage for a memorable performance.

Despite not having a guitar, Springsteen, known as 'The Boss,' delivered a captivating rendition of the second verse, earning cheers and applause from the audience. Mellencamp later shared a clip of their duet on Instagram, expressing his gratitude for having his friend Springsteen join him for the performance.

This recent collaboration is not the first time the two artists have shared the stage. They previously performed together at Sting’s Rainforest Benefit in December 2019, showcasing their musical chemistry with renditions of 'Pink Houses' and 'Glory Days.'

In addition to their live performances, Springsteen was featured on Mellencamp's Strictly a One-Eyed Jack LP in 2022, contributing to tracks like 'Did You Say Such a Thing,' 'Wasted Days,' and 'A Life Full of Rain.'

Mellencamp has spoken fondly of his friendship with Springsteen, highlighting their shared experiences of growing up in small towns and navigating the music industry. He praised Springsteen's humility and tenacity, emphasizing the mutual respect and camaraderie between the two musicians.

Both Mellencamp and Springsteen are currently on tour, with Mellencamp scheduled to perform until late July, including an appearance at the Outlaw Festival alongside Willie Nelson and Bob Dylan. Springsteen is gearing up to resume his world tour in March, with upcoming dates in the U.S. and Europe as he continues his comeback from peptic ulcer disease.

Furthermore, Springsteen is set to headline the Sea.Hear.Now music festival in Asbury Park, New Jersey, adding to the excitement surrounding his return to the stage. Fans can look forward to more electrifying performances from these legendary artists as they continue to captivate audiences around the world.
