Bruce Springsteen spotted in Dublin going for pints and a chippy

Bruce Springsteen has been making the most of his time in Dublin in between playing three sold-out concerts after being spotted going for pints and visiting a chipper.

The legendary musician is taking in the sights and sounds of the city, soaking up the culture and meeting with fans.

He headed to The Long Hall pub on South Great George's Street on Saturday afternoon to enjoy some drinks with locals.

The Boss then headed to nearby chipper Leo Burdock to grab a bite to eat.

Bruce is no stranger to either institution, with both joking that the American has become a “regular”.

The Long Hall shared a picture on social media of the Born To Run hitmaker raising a glass with another pub-goer.

They wrote: “Seven years on it was lovely to welcome back two regulars to the pub today! One from Aberystwyth in Wales the other from New Jersey in the US. It’s the randomness that makes it so special. Slainte!”

Then he washed the drink down with some fish and chips from Leo Burdock in Christchurch.

They also uploaded a picture of him on social media posing with staff while holding a handful of euro notes, writing: “Woohoo. The Boss stopped by our flagship Christchurch. Springsteen, amazing legend.”

The owner of the 110-year-old chipper, Charlie McGrachan, hailed him as a "genuinely nice guy" who has now become a “regular”.

He told Dublin Live : "When he comes to town, over the last 10 or 12 times, we’ve managed to get him in. He’s become a regular. He’s such a nice guy. He’s great with any of the regular staff.

"He has no problem letting people take photos of him. Just genuine. Real nice person."

When asked what Bruce ordered, Charlie said his favourite dish is usually the lemon sole and the chips.

He added: "The band normally have the famous fresh cod and chips."

Charlie said Bruce was in a good mood and was "all about Dublin". He laughed: "He said to us, ‘You were supposed to have rain’ so he had a cap on waiting for the rain."

Bruce, 73, dazzled fans in Dublin’s RDS on Friday night with a three-hour set of his greatest hits.

Amongst the hordes of fans taking in the show were DJ Dave Fanning, author Roddy Doyle, rugby star Keith Wood and Shane MacGowan’s wife Victoria.

The Boss was back at the RDS on Sunday night for the second of his three sold out shows, before a rousing finale on Tuesday.
