According to head coach Kevin Stefanski, the Cleveland Browns will be without one of their young pass catchers for a week or two. Third-year player David Bell suffered a quad injury in Saturday’s preseason opener against the Green Bay Packers.
Bell made some nice plays on Saturday before going down with the injury and was the team’s second-highest-graded player on offense, according to PFF. However, there is a battle at the end of the roster with a few wide receivers, including Bell, so missing time will not help him secure a roster spot.
In the end, I think David Bell will still make the roster, but this does open the door for guys like Michael Woods II and Jaelon Darden to sneak onto the roster if they play well in the coming weeks. The Browns will host the Vikings for two joint practices this week before Saturday’s second preseason game at Cleveland Browns Stadium.
