Browns WR Amari Cooper says Joe Flacco’s passes are ‘like poetry in motion’

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Amari Cooper is already an admirer of Joe Flacco.

Not only did Cooper say Flacco looked good in practice, but that the veteran quarterback’s passes are “like poetry in motion.”

“He throws a very pretty ball,” Cooper said Thursday. “I don’t know if it’s intentional or what, but when he drops back and he lets it go, the whole motion is like poetry in motion. It looks good.”

This is why the Browns added Flacco to the roster. They trusted his experience as a passer would easily translate to their offense if he were called upon to replace Dorian Thompson-Robinson under center. And with the rookie officially out with a concussion for Week 13, head coach Kevin Stefanski will go to Flacco to start under center if needed.

Flacco last played in 2022 for the New York Jets, where he started the first three games of the season for an injured Zach Wilson and then one start in Week 18. Flacco completed 57.59 percent of his passes for 1051 yards with five touchdowns and three interceptions (he also attempted three passes in Week 13).

He led the Jets to one win during his four starts. Coincidently, that win was against the Cleveland Browns in Week 2. In that game, Flacco threw for 307 yards and four touchdowns, including two in the final 82 seconds of the game.

Now, Flacco will use his skillset for the Browns against the Los Angeles Rams should DTR miss the game with the concussion. At the very least, Cooper sounds excited to catch passes from the 16-year veteran.
