The New England Patriots will catch a break in Week 6 with the Cleveland Browns ruling out two of their star defensive playmakers.
On Friday, the team announced defensive end Jadeveon Clowney and cornerback Denzel Ward will miss Sunday’s game against the visiting Patriots.
Whether it’s Mac Jones coming off an injury or rookie quarterback Bailey Zappe under center, the Patriots will clearly benefit from not having Clowney wrecking the offensive backfield and Ward creating tight throwing windows.
However, the game plan for New England will likely be more run-focused against a Browns team with one of the worst rushing defenses in the league. So don’t expect a lot of dropping back and passing in this matchup.
With Damien Harris already ruled out for the game, the Patriots will be looking to hit the Browns hard with a steady dose of Rhamondre Stevenson and rookie running back Kevin Harris in hopes of improving their record to 3-3.
